Many of our members do a lot of knitting for charity, usually for babies and children but we think the women in refuge centres need their lives brightening up too. So we’ve started a project called ‘Operation Brighten’.
We will be spinning, knitting, weaving, felting and crocheting to provide warm, colourful and functional clothing such at hats, gloves, jerseys, cardigans, scarves, ponchos, wraps and slippers. To brighten up their surroundings, some of us will make cushions, throws, rugs, mats or wall hangings.
We aim to have our work completed by March next year so we’ll be busy over the coming months making something warm and beautiful for these women.
If you are interested in being involved in Operation Brighten, please email our area delegate Helen Kipa. We’d love to hear from you.
